Wine Down Wednesdays!

Hi everyone! My name is Kat and I am a lifelong friend of Val’s. Val is my go-to gal  when it comes to everything beauty but I’m here for a different purpose. WINE! Over the last several years I have developed a love affair with all things wine and I am so happy to have the chance to share my knowledge with you! Val and I have had many nights lately trying different beauty products and sipping on some of our favorite wines. When you’re having a night in with the girls, I suggest trying “Belle Ambiance” 2014 Pinot Grigio! It’s light, crisp, and extremely refreshing! So far I have been only able to find it at Fresh Market but if you don’t have one near you just grab your fav Pinot! When you’re ready to snack, pita chips and hummus bring out the great flavors of this wine. If you are a go-to red wine drinker (much like myself) I highly suggest “Fleurie” from Chateau des Roches. It’s light and doesn’t leave that normal heavy and robust red wine after taste. This beaut is found at Whole Foods where you can also grab a PHENOMENAL cheese platter of your liking to pair with it. A little tip is that the folks at whole foods are always willing to help you find the perfect cheese and charcuterie to pair perfectly with your  wine of choice!  To me, there is nothing better than staying at home with your best friend, a charcoal mask, and a glass of wine. Every Wednesday I will be coming to you with a new blog, in which I will be pairing some of my favorite wines with food and/or activities! I hope you have enjoyed my introduction to Simply Gold and I look forward to wining down more with you soon!

Cheers!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Screen Shot 2015-11-24 at 12.23.23 PM

Hi everyone!! Happy Turkey Day!!! Ahhh can you even believe that it’s already Thanksgiving! I for one am pumped about all the food and family that this day entails. This year my big family is kind of all over the place so its just low key this year. But none the less I am looking forward to all the little traditions that we have. I will be camped out in front of the TV watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and pretending that I am a Rockette by kicking my little heart out! What are some of your families Thanksgiving day traditions that you look forward to the most? The day will then be filled with lots of cooking and eating and then getting to bed early in preparation for my Black Friday shopping with my mom! Woo Hoo!!! Well I hope that each and every one of you have a beautiful day filled with loved ones and fabulous food! Tag me in a post so I can see what all of you are up to this Thanksgiving! I love hearing from you.

Fort Lauderdale just got a little cozier thanks to the opening of a brand new hangout Warsaw Coffee Company by Scott Ojeda and partners. This hip and friendly shop is destined to be a goto among locals and visitors alike thanks to it unique and homey atmosphere. What sets this place apart is not only can you get the most amazing coffee to start your morning or afternoon pick me up but they also have a menu that will knock your socks off (no but literally it will). Chef Jason Morale has truly outdone himself by creating a menu that is sure to leave every foodie out there wanting to try everything on the menu. From breakfast burritos to dessert tarts, he puts love and passion into everything he makes and boy does it show. Now of course it is still a coffee shop and no detail has been sacrificed when it comes to theirs. From where the beans are sourced to the ways that the beans are used for each drink, this team has thought about it all. You can even buy bags of your favorite brew and enjoy WCC coffee in your own home.

What also is unique about Warsaw Coffee Company is that it is home to two meeting rooms that anyone can rent. You can even customize your coffee and pastry selections that are sure to have you impressing anyone. After your business meetings or catch up with friends don’t forget to grab some homemade toffee and granola Togo. Yes you read that right they have three types of handmade toffee and Tropical Granola that you can enjoy at home (or in the car if your me and have no will power). WCC also cater to the hands on do’ers out there by offering cooking classes in their very own kitchen as well!

Words can not describe just how much I love this place and the master minds behind it are the milk ontop of the perfectly made Latte (which I had and it really is perfect!) You can stay updated on all the latest at WCC by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Can’t wait to see all of you there!

January Love With Food Box

LWF1

LWF3

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be sharing my newest subscription box addiction with you all! This is my first box with Love with Food and I all I can say is that I am blown away! What is it is a monthly box that is packed with goodies for a foodies dream! What I love most is that for every box sent out they donate a meal to a person in need to help end hunger in America. If that doesn’t make it worth it then I don’t know what will! This month was all about food to help you “Live.Laugh.Restore” and these goodies are sure to do that! So far my favorites have been the Kettle cooked apples with raspberries, hibiscus and green coffee extract from Big Slice and the chocolate covered cocoa nibs from Britt. But todays lunch features the in shell almonds and Cassava Pops and needless to say I am counting down the minutes till lunch. I really hope you all enjoyed this little peak into my newest subscription and hope you all check out Love with Food for yourselves!

Hopes for the New Year!

2015

Hi everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! Ahhhhh can you even believe that it is 2015, I sure can’t but I know that this year is going to be a rockin one! Since January 1st means a new year is ahead I would love to share some of my hopes for the new year. I don’t like to set resolutions because like many others I feel like I never stick to them! So instead these are some hopes and goals that I will be working toward this year or just enjoying more =)

1. I really want to connect with you all on a more regular basis! I love getting to you know guys and I love writing as well but with school this last year it has been a non stop whirlwind. So I am going to try to dedicate set time each week to connecting and getting my fingers typing to share with all of you!

2. I want to travel more (who doesn’t) but truly there are so many places that I have said that “oh I want to go there one day” and this year I want to travel to at least one new place. Its such a passion of mine seeing and exploring new places and learning that I really want to allow myself to enjoy it! YOLO haha

3. As much of a positive person as I try to be I do have my debbie downer days. So this year I want to replace my negative thoughts with positive ones. And I know that is easier said then done, so what I have done is taken my favorite quotes, sayings and encouraging messages and written down on little sticky notes. I fold them up and put it into my Jar of Positivity an whenever I need one I will reach in and pull out some positivity! Fun right!

4. Lastly I want to be more open to trying new things. Either with beauty, fashion and even food! I feel like a lot of us get into routines of what works or just are too worried about trying something different that we all become stuck (hello I’m guilty of it!). So this year my hope is to every month trying something new and spice up my year.

I hope you all enjoyed those and I would love to hear all of yours! I think we all can inspire and support one another so if you are trying anything new this year reach out and I would love to know! Talk to you all soon and again Happy 2015!!!!

The Weekend!

The Forge

Dessert

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had the most amazing weekend. During this time of year popular restaurants in Miami get together and join up for Miami Spice and I take full advantage of trying new some restaurants for an amazing deal. All the restaurants involved provide a pre-selected menu for $40 and includes an appetizer, entree and a dessert; most have several choices for each category so you are able to pick something that you will be sure to enjoy. This weekend my beau and I decide on The Forge restaurant, a place that we have always wanted to try and have heard so many wonderful things about but just never seem to make it. Walking into the restaurant you feel as if you are transported from art deco Miami to a modern version of an  Alice in Wonderland royal palace. Every inch of the space has been thoughtfully placed and is just truly amazing and the food wasn’t less then perfection. You can take a look at Miami Spice menu for The Forge here, in addition to the Miami Spice menu we ordered a couple extras including the Jamaican Jerk Bacon and the Truffle Mac n Cheese Pot Pie! After we were finished we decided to swing by my favorite shop in the whole world Laduree (I really can’t resist and how cute are these boxes!) I am getting excited about all the fall decor coming out into stores and I can’t wait to start decorating!! I am thinking of trying some DIY fall decor, what are some of your favorites?!

As if those pictures weren’t enough to make your mouth water let me share with all of you my newest sweet tooth obsessions from The Crispery. My mom first introduced me to these when she included one in my Easter Basket (yes I still get easter baskets, no judging!) and since then I have been hooked. Now these are unlike any other rice cereal treat I have ever had and trust me I have done my due diligence. Not only are these HUGE but they are so incredibly delicious with all kinds of wonderful flavors like Pretzel Surprise and S’mores . My beau surprised me with these after a less then stellar week and I am really practicing self control by not eating them all. Check out all of the delicious flavors from The Crispery’s online store and although all of them are wonderful so far my favorite is the classic Plain and Sweet Rice treat =) Hope you all enjoy and haven’t developed a pool of water where you are sitting from your mouth watering! (I am totally guilty of it)

Nina Ricci for Laduree

IMG_9159

Nina Ricci 1

As I am sure you can all tell by now but I have a true love/obsession with anything Laduree. I just find their macarons not only delicious, but to me they embody the elegance and sophistication of France. I am subscribed to all of their newsletters and I follow them on every social front that I can. A little while back I got the e-mail from their main store in France saying that they were presenting a collection of macarons in collaboration with the famed fashion designer Nina Ricci called La Tentation de Nina, I was doing my happy dance. The only problem was that it didn’t mention anything about getting them in the U.S. or when (cue the tears).

However if you saw my weekend post from last week then you may have seen that the Laduree in Miami had their windows beautifully decorated to showcase this collaboration! Though they didn’t have them yet I knew that it was just a mater of time and sure enough this past Friday was the day!!!! So like the amazing guy he is my main squeeze went and picked up a box of these artful GOLD LEAF macarons! I will be honest I almost cried because I was just so honored to be able to try these and my gosh they were wonderful!! They are a “raspberry, lemon, Bulgarion rose absolute and almond” macaron with a beautiful fuchsia shell! I know that these were a once in lifetime kind of treat and I am glad I could bring a little bit of my happiness to all of you.

Weekend Snapshots

Hi all! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We were blessed with such amazing weather this weekend, the humidity was low, the sun was out and there was the most amazing cool breeze. I found myself down at Lincoln Road Mall to get my Laduree fix, grab some lunch and just enjoy this beautiful weather. Also and a bonus decided to swing by Trader Joes since the only closest one is down in Miami.

Though they didn’t have any of the Nina Ricci gold macrons that day I was lucky enough to get one of the boxes filled with all of my favorite flavors! ( and by favorite flavors I mean I got one of each!!!!!) Can I just add that I am always taken aback by how beautiful the Laduree windows always are and it doesn’t hurt that the Nina Ricci theme is hot pink!

And of course I had to the Miami Beach Art Deco Box as well since I didn’t get it the last time!!!!

If any of you have been to New York then I am sure you have heard of Serendipity, we are lucky enough to have one of our own and my beau and I stopped in for lunch ( my favorite tomato soup) and of course a classic Frozen Hot Chocolate for two!

They also added a Dylan’s Candy Bar and as you can imagine every sugary confection you could think of is housed in this candy land dream. I was so excited to able to have all of my favorite Dylan’s Candy Bar easier then ever now and I loved picking up a few of my favorites! I am so excited to have one so close but I know that when I go to New York I will feel like a kid in a candy store, there is truly nothing like the three story flagship store filled with candy!

Like I had mentioned I did treat myself and go to Trader Joe’s to stock up on some of my favorites. I know this may not be new to a lot of you who have been to Trader Joe’s but I just wanted to share with all of you a few of my favorites from the store!

NMS_1543

I can not wait to enjoy all of my goodies that I picked up this week and look forward to seeing some of things you enjoyed this weekend! Also since I am newish to Trader Joe’s I would love to hear what some of your favorite items are that are worth trying!!
