Weekend Fun

Hi everyone!! Hope you all had an amazing weekend and had the chance to do something simple wonderful! I have to say mine was a bit crazy to say the least. With my mom and brother going out of town and me trying to pack and get final items for my trip I felt like I really needed a moment to just relax and enjoy this beautiful weather we had here in south florida. But never the less throughout my many shopping trips this weekend I was able to snap a could of pictures to share with you all of things that made me smile of that I just thought were completely cute!

Saturday I literally spent the entire day running around trying to find cute little tanks and dresses for my up coming cruise and by upcoming I mean Monday! My planning has been off and all m shopping has been last minute thanks to school Ugh! Thankfully I was able to find a couple of cute things that I could not only wear for my tropical vacation but throughout the summer too.

Farmers Market

I was able to swing by the farmer market before my crazy mall marathon began and I must say going to the farmers market is something I really enjoy. I love all of the fresh produce and finding something new and healthy to try. And no trip to the farmers market is complete without some amazing treat for my furry little friend and a trip to the local honey tent. If you have a pet I really would encourage you to check out Happy Dog Bakery. I have been buying treats for my dog there for the longest time and some of their proceeds and products go to help shelter dogs.

ShoppingSaturday

I thought these little kinck knacks from bath and body were adorable, I love little bags in eye popping colors. And if you know me you will know my love for anything baking related and french so when I saw these little kitchen towels from their baking collection I melted. They are so fun and an easy way to bring some personality into your kitchen space.

Pauls

I stopped at one of my favorite little lunch spots for a bite to eat (shopping really does work up and appetite, I consider it exercise in my mind). Paul is this quaint little french bistro that serves some of the yummiest sandwiches, salads and even desserts. Though I didn’t get it this stop one of my all time favorite lunches is their Croque Monsieur…my mouth is watering just thinking about it. However this time I decided on a simple grilled chicken club YUMMY!!! Also true to my nature I had to get a sweet treat and splurged on a nutella doughnut that my cousin introduced me to, Nutella+ Doughnut= Perfection in my mind. Fear not though I did share it with my boyfriend , though to be honest I easily could have eaten it all myself  hehe =).

Sunday is supposed to be the day and rest and I usually so just that expect I had to of course get last minute cruise items. Lucky for me though I got most of the little things I needed shampoo, conditioner that kind of stuff. I seriously have such an amazing guy, he was with me all day, didn’t mind me dragging him to every store I could think of and he treated me to such an amazing lunch and the bistro inside Nordstrom. If any of you haven’t been then all I can say is GO NOW!!!!! I hope the urgent capitals got my point across as to just how amazing this spot is. We both shared a french onion soup and a prime rib sandwich ( I am honestly such a foodie at heart).

All in all I can not wait to just be sipping on my fruity umbrella drink and soaking up some sun because all this running around has me exhausted! I hope that all of you enjoyed some you time and cant wait to catch up with all of you when I get back!

Laduree Comes to town

IMG_8545

I wish that I could do a cartwheel right now because if I could I would be doing them the whole length of my apartment! That is just how excited I am that one of my all time favorite guilty pleasures has graced my gorgeous state. Every year when I take my yearly pilgrimage to what I call my second home New York, the day I land I am in line at Laduree ordering up some delicate and colorful confections. Fast forward to a couple months ago when I found out that Laduree was opening in Miami I honestly would check their website multiple times a month. This was just to see if I could find out exactly when those wonderful doors would be opening. Well lone behold Monday February 24th was the day myself and I am sure many more have been looking forward to!

Laduree3

Nestled in a quaint and yet bustling section of the Lincoln Road Mall Laduree commands the attention of anyone who passes. With its beautiful macaron towers of all colors displayed all through the store this sophisticated gem is a little slice of Paris. I kept on telling the staff how truly excited I was to be there ( I honestly don’t think they understood I was prepared to wait hours for these delights!).  After selecting one of every flavor and a couple extra I still couldn’t get over how surreal it felt to be there on a regular Monday night in February. I can not wait to go back for more (now that its a car ride not a plane ride) and get my macaron fix. So when you are in the area or trying to find something fun to do I highly recommend you visit because you will never regret it!

Laduree4

One I was home I obviously had to have one….or three, oh who cares if you have had a Laduree macaron you understand. It was just completely surreal to me that on what seemed like a typical monday for myself had somehow seemed to surprise me and it ended with me being at Laduree munching on my favorite treats. If any of you haven’t ever been to Laduree some of my favorite flavors are the rose, lemon, caramel (you may want to get two of these, you won’t want to share) and the chocolate coconut! The one I am holding in the picture below is a limited edition valentines day flavor which is wonderful sweet and a bit tart berry flavor.

I hope you all enjoyed this as much as I did and hopefully I have inspired a few of you to give them a try. To find out exact details about the Laduree Us locations click here! I’m off because I have macrons to eat, au revoir mes amies!

If anyone knows me they know how much of a sweet tooth I have. I love trying new desserts and baking so on Friday after work my boyfriend surprised me with some of my favorite cupcakes of all time! If any of you live in South Florida you have to check out Misha’s they have such amazing flavors and best of all they are mini you you can enjoy the whole thing without feeling guilty. Two of my all time favorites are the strawberry shortcake and the salted caramel, and yes they all taste as good as they look (I’m trying not to drool).

This looks like the ultimate foodie collage and to be honest to me it is!! On Saturday my beau and I finally went out to celebrate not only a fun date night but Valentine’s day too. We ended up going to one of my all time favorite restaurants Zuma at the Epic  in Miami where the atmosphere is buzzed with electricity and the open kitchen gives every foodie a glimpse into the wonderful masterpieces of edible perfection. Its Japanese food at it’s finest and will leave anyone who has just one bite wanting more and what is neat is that all of the dishes come prepared to share. No need for cutting, they come in perfectly bite sized pieces so even the neophytes of chopsticks won’t have too hard of a time. There was so much food we ate that night but a couple of my favorite were the infamous stir-fried edamame(you will truly never look at edamame the same), the sweet corn with shiso butter from the robata and the Spicy beef tenderloin with sesame, red chili and sweet soy YUM!!!! And of course we cant forget about dessert which if you order the sampler comes out in a bowl of ice and two chef choice sorbets, fresh fruits and signature desserts. Ours had the green tea banana cake and a chocolate lava cake with caramel and pralines inside. Lets just say I was in a serious food coma after, it took me all sunday to recover.

Thankfully on sunday I had nothing to do! So I took the time to catch up on my favorite fashion magazines, sip on some ice coffee and enjoy some fresh flowers. Even with all the craziness of the weekend it is nice to just enjoy doing nothing on the weekends. Just spending time enjoying the sunshine, relaxing and enjoying some much needed us time. I feel like it is important to do little things for ourselves now and again because I mean hello if we don’t who will! Any who, hope you all took some time to do something you find enjoyable this weekend that brought a smile to your face!

xoxo Val
