Wine Down Wednesdays!

Hi everyone! My name is Kat and I am a lifelong friend of Val’s. Val is my go-to gal  when it comes to everything beauty but I’m here for a different purpose. WINE! Over the last several years I have developed a love affair with all things wine and I am so happy to have the chance to share my knowledge with you! Val and I have had many nights lately trying different beauty products and sipping on some of our favorite wines. When you’re having a night in with the girls, I suggest trying “Belle Ambiance” 2014 Pinot Grigio! It’s light, crisp, and extremely refreshing! So far I have been only able to find it at Fresh Market but if you don’t have one near you just grab your fav Pinot! When you’re ready to snack, pita chips and hummus bring out the great flavors of this wine. If you are a go-to red wine drinker (much like myself) I highly suggest “Fleurie” from Chateau des Roches. It’s light and doesn’t leave that normal heavy and robust red wine after taste. This beaut is found at Whole Foods where you can also grab a PHENOMENAL cheese platter of your liking to pair with it. A little tip is that the folks at whole foods are always willing to help you find the perfect cheese and charcuterie to pair perfectly with your  wine of choice!  To me, there is nothing better than staying at home with your best friend, a charcoal mask, and a glass of wine. Every Wednesday I will be coming to you with a new blog, in which I will be pairing some of my favorite wines with food and/or activities! I hope you have enjoyed my introduction to Simply Gold and I look forward to wining down more with you soon!

Cheers!

Hi everyone! Hope you are all enjoying the holidays and all of the holiday parties that the season includes! Well fear not because I have been scouting around and these are some of my favorite things to have on hand that are go to gifts for the hostess with the mostest. It also doesn’t have to be something over the top so don’t stress about that either! Remember its the holidays and it is the thought that means the most, and nothing says Happy Holidays like a great bottle of wine too!!

Its always a happy day when you come home to find a VoxBox from Inluenster on your doorstep! This box theme is sunshine and given the bright shade of yellow that the box is I would say it is very fitting. All off the products inside are ones that will be perfect for your beach vacation or lounging by the pool on the hot summer days. I don’t even know where to begin with which product I am loving most because I honestly LOVE them all. One of my all time favorite condiments is Sriracha, I honestly put it on everything! The spicer the better I always say. So my new best friends at Blue Dimond have come out with Sriracha almonds are for sure are going to be a constant in my beach bag snacks. They are the perfect amount of spice and saltiness that will leave you feeling satisfied and hunger at bay.

I have been using the Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturizer all summer so thank you Influenster for the extra! In South Florida it is hot and humid beyond belief but I have been using this to refresh my skin after being out in the harsh sun. It not only gives my skin the moisture its craving but the aloe leaves it feeling refreshed and cool. It is so easy to just throw in my beach bag and I don’t have to worry about it spilling all over my bag from being jostled around. Another product I am finding myself throwing in my beach bag or everyday bag are the Dickinson’s Refreshingly Clean Cleaning Cloths. I know that some don’t like cleaning cloths but when your skin is oily and you just want a quick refresh they are truly lifesavers! I use them before I workout at them gym to remove all my makeup or just when I want to give a nice and quick cleanse and remove the dirt from the day and the fact that they have Witch hazel infused makes me over the moon.

The Infusium 23 Smoothing Creme is just what my hair needs after a day in the sun. Using Avocado and Olive Oil this leave in treatment is just what your starving hair is looking for and the smell will make you feel like you are at a salon! I always use a leave in product for my hair after a shower so this was just perfect to get. And from perfect hair for summer to the perfect nail color and I am talking PERFECT this color from SinfulColors in Ocean Side has been added into my collection of got to’s.

I am so excited about this box and I am completely in love with everything inside! Thank you again Influenster for always letting me try these amazing products that quickly become my favorite got to products. Hope you all enjoyed!

Fort Lauderdale just got a little cozier thanks to the opening of a brand new hangout Warsaw Coffee Company by Scott Ojeda and partners. This hip and friendly shop is destined to be a goto among locals and visitors alike thanks to it unique and homey atmosphere. What sets this place apart is not only can you get the most amazing coffee to start your morning or afternoon pick me up but they also have a menu that will knock your socks off (no but literally it will). Chef Jason Morale has truly outdone himself by creating a menu that is sure to leave every foodie out there wanting to try everything on the menu. From breakfast burritos to dessert tarts, he puts love and passion into everything he makes and boy does it show. Now of course it is still a coffee shop and no detail has been sacrificed when it comes to theirs. From where the beans are sourced to the ways that the beans are used for each drink, this team has thought about it all. You can even buy bags of your favorite brew and enjoy WCC coffee in your own home.

After your business meetings or catch up with friends don’t forget to grab some homemade toffee and granola Togo. Yes you read that right they have three types of handmade toffee and Tropical Granola that you can enjoy at home (or in the car if your me and have no will power). WCC also cater to the hands on do’ers out there by offering cooking classes in their very own kitchen as well!

January Love With Food Box

LWF1

LWF2

LWF3

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be sharing my newest subscription box addiction with you all! This is my first box with Love with Food and I all I can say is that I am blown away! What is it is a monthly box that is packed with goodies for a foodies dream! What I love most is that for every box sent out they donate a meal to a person in need to help end hunger in America. If that doesn’t make it worth it then I don’t know what will! This month was all about food to help you “Live.Laugh.Restore” and these goodies are sure to do that! So far my favorites have been the Kettle cooked apples with raspberries, hibiscus and green coffee extract from Big Slice and the chocolate covered cocoa nibs from Britt. But todays lunch features the in shell almonds and Cassava Pops and needless to say I am counting down the minutes till lunch. I really hope you all enjoyed this little peak into my newest subscription and hope you all check out Love with Food for yourselves!

Hopes for the New Year!

2015

Hi everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! Ahhhhh can you even believe that it is 2015, I sure can’t but I know that this year is going to be a rockin one! Since January 1st means a new year is ahead I would love to share some of my hopes for the new year. I don’t like to set resolutions because like many others I feel like I never stick to them! So instead these are some hopes and goals that I will be working toward this year or just enjoying more =)

1. I really want to connect with you all on a more regular basis! I love getting to you know guys and I love writing as well but with school this last year it has been a non stop whirlwind. So I am going to try to dedicate set time each week to connecting and getting my fingers typing to share with all of you!

2. I want to travel more (who doesn’t) but truly there are so many places that I have said that “oh I want to go there one day” and this year I want to travel to at least one new place. Its such a passion of mine seeing and exploring new places and learning that I really want to allow myself to enjoy it! YOLO haha

3. As much of a positive person as I try to be I do have my debbie downer days. So this year I want to replace my negative thoughts with positive ones. And I know that is easier said then done, so what I have done is taken my favorite quotes, sayings and encouraging messages and written down on little sticky notes. I fold them up and put it into my Jar of Positivity an whenever I need one I will reach in and pull out some positivity! Fun right!

4. Lastly I want to be more open to trying new things. Either with beauty, fashion and even food! I feel like a lot of us get into routines of what works or just are too worried about trying something different that we all become stuck (hello I’m guilty of it!). So this year my hope is to every month trying something new and spice up my year.

I hope you all enjoyed those and I would love to hear all of yours! I think we all can inspire and support one another so if you are trying anything new this year reach out and I would love to know! Talk to you all soon and again Happy 2015!!!!

xoxo Val

November Birchbox

IMG_2518November Birchbox

November Birchox 2

November Birchbix 3

Its a new month which means a whole new month of samples! Its pretty much like christmas or your birthday when you finally receive your boxes! This month Birchboxs’ theme was giving (very thanksgiving) and every box was shipped in a Red box to raise awareness for AID research. When you snapped a picture for your instagram, which we all do! (no shame!!)  Birchbox would then donate a dollar to the foundation! I love “Giving” back especially around the holidays so I really respect and am proud of Birchbox for giving back in such a big way. Now to the samples, I wont’t go into crazy detail about them but if you have any questions on my trials feel free to ask! What I got was Perlier Revitalizing Body Butter  in almond (one of my favorite scents), Amika Nourishg Mask, Gilchrist & Soames Spa Therapy Body Wash, Justin’s Chocolate Almond Butter (one of my favorite go to snacks with apples), The Blam Cosmetics Cindy-Lou Manizer, and two little smiles of Red Flower Illuminating Rose Collagen Renewal Face Serum. I am super excited about this months products and hopefully I will find a new love from it!

OnJuice Juice Cleanse

OnJuice1

OnJuice2

OnJuice3

OnJuice4

OnJuice5

This past week I set out on my very first juice cleanse thanks to the wonderful people at Onjuice. Being a self proclaimed health nut I try to maintain a healthy balance when it comes to eating and exercise, so I was thrilled when they asked me to try out a juice cleanse. If you are unfamiliar with OnJuice they are a South Florida based company who has taken juicing to the next level of healthy. They have developed a technique of cold pressing their ingredients to optimize the nutrients and vitamins that go from the fruit and veggies into the juices. And as if they isn’t awesome enough a juice is only as good as the ingredients itself right? Well all of the fruits and veggies that OnJuice uses are fresh and locally grown so they know exactly how and what goes into making the freshest produce.

I tried the Traditional 3 day Cleanse by OnJuice and I think this was the perfect choice for my first run at a juice cleanse. It consisted of 6 juices a day(I had two sublimes a day) that are meant to restore your body to its optimal state. It restores your bodies pH and is meant to rid yourself of toxins that cause fatigue, headaches and unhealthy skin just to name a few. I began my cleanse on monday and lasted till wednesday and to be honest it wasn’t as crazy as everyone makes it out to be, it was tough at times but not undoable my any means.

Day 1 I was completely pumped and ready to start. I got through the day easy and was excited to finally be able to taste all of the juices that were chilling in my fridge. I did exercise that day which I think made day 2 a little harder for me because I did notice that I was hungrier then I was anticipating. So day 2 I  had my juices every three hours as stated and because I am in school I was busy all day which really helped to distract me. By day 3 I honestly really was hungry and it was kind of a struggle but this is where being mentally tough and focused really helped me. I didn’t want all of my hard work and detoxing to go to waste which really helped me to stay strong (which I did!).

Overall I am really glad I did this, even though I couldn’t have coffee I noticed that I really didn’t get any headaches due to the lack of caffeine. I didn’t feel sluggish like I often do thanks to my crazy school schedule and I felt overall rejuvenated (who doesn’t love that). I just wanted to thank everyone at OnJuice again for letting me try this cleanse and get my body back on track and back to that fine tuned machine I know it is. Since the cleanse I really have been even more careful and methodical (if thats even possible) about what I eat and what I use when I am cooking. If any of you are interested in OnJuice you can learn more about all of their cleanses online. Also if you have any question feel free to reach out and ask away!!
