Weekend Snapshots

Hi all! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We were blessed with such amazing weather this weekend, the humidity was low, the sun was out and there was the most amazing cool breeze. I found myself down at Lincoln Road Mall to get my Laduree fix, grab some lunch and just enjoy this beautiful weather. Also and a bonus decided to swing by Trader Joes since the only closest one is down in Miami.

Though they didn’t have any of the Nina Ricci gold macrons that day I was lucky enough to get one of the boxes filled with all of my favorite flavors! ( and by favorite flavors I mean I got one of each!!!!!) Can I just add that I am always taken aback by how beautiful the Laduree windows always are and it doesn’t hurt that the Nina Ricci theme is hot pink!

NMS_1547

And of course I had to the Miami Beach Art Deco Box as well since I didn’t get it the last time!!!!

If any of you have been to New York then I am sure you have heard of Serendipity, we are lucky enough to have one of our own and my beau and I stopped in for lunch ( my favorite tomato soup) and of course a classic Frozen Hot Chocolate for two!

They also added a Dylan’s Candy Bar and as you can imagine every sugary confection you could think of is housed in this candy land dream. I was so excited to able to have all of my favorite Dylan’s Candy Bar easier then ever now and I loved picking up a few of my favorites! I am so excited to have one so close but I know that when I go to New York I will feel like a kid in a candy store, there is truly nothing like the three story flagship store filled with candy!

Like I had mentioned I did treat myself and go to Trader Joe’s to stock up on some of my favorites. I know this may not be new to a lot of you who have been to Trader Joe’s but I just wanted to share with all of you a few of my favorites from the store!

NMS_1543

I can not wait to enjoy all of my goodies that I picked up this week and look forward to seeing some of things you enjoyed this weekend! Also since I am newish to Trader Joe’s I would love to hear what some of your favorite items are that are worth trying!!

Bucket Bags

Screen Shot 2014-03-26 at 10.17.27 AM

I must confess I have been coveting bucket bags lately, I don’t know why but I just find them so cool and yet incredibly practical. I mean hello bucket is in the name and what doesn’t a bucket hold! Now bucket bags are nothing new to fashion, they always come in and out of fashion and always come back a little more refined or reminiscent of the times. With an upcoming vacation of mine on the horizon I was looking to pick up a bag that I could throw all the essentials I needed for a day into and yet something that I didn’t mind being banged around. Unfortunately all of the bags I seemed to have gravitated to were really out of the budget I had set for myself. I tend to not like to spend a lot on items that are more in trend and something that may not be around for a while. So after what seems like weeks worth of searching I decided to share some of my favorite finds with all of you (or the ones who share the love of this bag as much as I do)! And the best part is that they are all under $100! Hope you all enjoy!!!

Spring is in the Air

Since this week was the official beginning of spring I decided to take some time an enjoy the beautiful weather that we had here is South Florida. I know its practically summer here all year round but on the few days we get here where there is a cool breeze and the humidity is low we like to take full advantage of it.  This weekend I really enjoyed getting out and spending some time with my family as well as finding some spring inspiration for decor.

I thought these Easter/Spring inspired dinner wear was so fun and interesting way to welcome the new season, leave it to William Sonoma to make an egg look cute! Also how divine and yummy looking do these pastel chocolate eggs look!!! It took all that I had not to buy the whole basket.

Fair Day

Saturday I was so excited to be going to the Fair with my family! I honestly can’t even tell you all the last time I had been but I have the best memories of going every year as a kid. Though it was so much different then from what I remembered it was fun to indulge in some nostalgic fair food and seeing all the different kinds of animals oh and did I mention food! ( I am sure this weeks workouts will be kicked into over drive to make up for all of this! I mean hello look at those fries!)

IMG_8972

Sunday was much more relaxing thankfully and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky which was perfect for a day outside. As I am sure some of you know by now I really enjoy plants, flowers and anything that makes me smile that is found in nature. I just find it so remarkable that our earth can make such breath taking beauties for us to enjoy. Anyways, my mom has been redoing her garden for the spring so I took a ride with her to a nursery near the house to scope out some new additions and fell so in love. I loved all the different fountains and all the rooms like looked like secret gardens I had to take some pictures because it was just too beautiful.

Hudson Yards By Bond No. 9 New York

IMG_8921

Today I am so excited to share with all of you that Bond No.9 has launched a new fragrance Hudson Yards and SHOCKER I’m in love! I have been in love with Bond No. 9 for what seems like a life time and I swear every time they come out with a new scent I fall even deeper in love with them.

IMG_8926

When people ask why I am so in love, or why is it so special I have such a hard time trying to find that perfect description that would do this company justice. But I am going to try and share with all of you why real quick. There is nothing on this planet like Bond No.9, their scents are completely one of a kind. Each scent evokes and attitude or mind set that is unique to New York and each has a story. You can wear them alone and fablouos just like it is or create your very own custom blend that is uniquely you. Now tell me how could you not be in love with something like that!!!!

IMG_8922

Anyways back off that tangent and back to the news addition to the Bond No.9 family. This new line was based off the many train yards that are nestled in the bustling city of New York and in true Bond No. 9 signature it evokes the essence and attitude of the location. Perftect for spring, Hudson Yards contains a symphony of notes that are both fruity and floral. Some of my favorites notes are Wet petals of Lilly of the Valley, Peony Buds, Vibrant Lychee,  and Orange Flower Absolute in essence spring perfection in a bottle.  And as if you weren’t sure that this bottle embodies the spirit of spring take one look at the vibrant green bottle and warm golden Bond No.9 logo and it instantly warms off any of that left over snow lingering in your thoughts. Not only can you get Hudson Yards as a perfume, but it is also come in their amazing body Body Silk, Liquid Body Silk (which we all know smell just as amazing as the perfume!) Or if your the type that brings the scent of your favorite Bond No.9 into your home I am excited to share that they have made Hudson Yards into a Candle! If you know me then you understand just how excited this makes me.

IMG_8924

If you enjoy making your own blends with Bond No.9 I really enjoyed paring this with Scent of Peace, Maddison Square Park and High Line. I am sure I will experiment with more but as of now that is what I have tried it with. Happy Blending!

Loving La Fresh

IMG_0071

It is no secret that I enjoy nicely primped nails. It can add some pop of color to any outfit and its a way to give people a quick glance into our personalities. Wether your a classic red wearer or the Van Gogh of nail art we are all able to jump in on the nail polish train. Unfortunately or fortunately for myself not all manicures last forever and if you are like me you are constantly putting polish on and taking it off for your new polish obsession of the moment.  With that for me came incredibly dry nails and cuticles and even a little brittle from all of the nail polish remover..sigh. Thankfully for my first ever birchbox about three years ago that brought La Fresh into my life.

IMG_8593

IMG_8596

If you have never heard of La Fresh they are a Eco Friendly beauty company that makes that most amazing products and one of my all time favorites are their Acetone Free Nail Polish Removing Wipes ( oh yes acetone free and yes they do actually work!) These amazing little wipes will remove all the polish from my hands and feet, depending on what color I am experimenting with and nourishes them all at the same time.  The secret behind this little miracle worker is that while the nail polish resolving enzymes are doing their job the Aloe, Glycerin and Vitamin E are moisturizing your nails and rosemary and horsetail extract are strengthening your nails.

IMG_8597

IMG_8598

Like I had mentioned I have been using these for about three years now and I have stocked up on these amazing wipes. If I haven’t con vied you yet that these are indeed amazing then I should mention that because they do not contain acetone the moment you open the little pouch you instantly feel as if you are in an orange field. Yes no more crazy chemical smell lingering in your bathroom for what seems like hours, instead you may actually find yourself taking just a moment longer removing your polish in order to enjoy the wonderful citrus smell a little longer.

You can go to La Fesh’s website to learn more about them and learn more about their amazing ecofriendly products, hope you all enjoyed!!

Weekend Finds

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a lovely weekend! I must say I tried to just take it easy this weekend since this past week not only did  get back from my amazing vacation but I also came back with a cold (booooooo). Though no matter how hard I tried I did end up at my local outlet mall, I am actually lucky enough to live right next to one of the largest outlet malls in the country and a top tourist destination! Anyways I found myself at Nordstrom Rack and really scored some amazing finds, as much as I love high fashion I also love the thrill of a good find and that is exactly what you get at Nordstrom Rack.

DSC_1349

I picked up some great simple tops that I think will look great for spring by the company Soprano. It was incredibly hard not to buy them all but I finally picked two (with the help of my mom) that I thought would be not only great additions for the new season but awesome for the hot and humid weather in south florida (similar here). They are incredibly light and airy which will be great for those rare days where there is more then a hot breeze.

DSC_1369

And like any shopping trip how can one not scope out the she section, and if you have ever been to Nordstrom Rack then you know that its pretty much a gold mine! I try to find pieces that I can use a lot, as much as I love fun a crazy shoes when I am here I know that I am going to find a shoe that not only is great quality but it’s going to last me a long time. But with all of that in my head it all flew out the window the second I saw these Kate Spade for Keds sneakers(similar here, and here )! I have eyed these babies since they teamed up but never pulled the trigger (and I’m glad I waited, I got such an amazing deal). I love polka dots, I even have a pair on converse with them too so how could I pass up these girly and beautiful shoes. With crisp white and navy they are great for spring and in trend with the navy obsession of the moment.

On my way to the register I also snagged this two pack of simple belts that I was actually in need of! I was so excited that instead of having to buy two separate belts that some companies are pairing timeless and staple belts together. These simple and fun belts are from one of my all time favorite designers Betsey Johnson and as you can see from the picture there is a pop of leopard on the inside true to Betsey’s quirky and fun style. Also a fun little accent that you cant see in the photo are little black (similar here) stitched hearts that make even this timeless staple some spunk. Here is a link to a similar tan belt.

Hope you all enjoyed these fun little finds of mine and would love to see some of your favorite fashion steals and deals!

The Riviera Collection

IMG_8800

Its that time of month where every nail polish lover dreams come true! Well at least for me it is hehe 🙂 I am always stalking my mail box at the beginning of every month waiting for my Julep Maven Box and finally after two weeks and one vacation I am so excited to share it with all of you. From the title I am sure you can see that this months theme is the sunny and chic Riviera! Now we cant all visit the french Riviera this summer (unfortunately) but that doesn’t mean our nails cant look like we have. This month I peeked and looked at what colors I would be getting this month and at first I have to say I wasn’t sure if I would love them ( shocking moment I know). But fear not I am obviously obsessed with them since I have used both of my colors twice already. I am also already considering ordering them so I don’t have to worry about running out.

IMG_8644

I get the Classic with a twist box and in this months box there was a creamy white color called Soraphine and this vibrant fire engine red lacquer called Myriam. As I had mentioned earlier I was nervous that I wasn’t going to totally love both of them, mainly Soraphine because I haven’t had the best luck with white polishes. So I bit the bullet and tried Soraphine first and immediately was squealing with joy because I loved it that much! Its the perfect neutral nail polish when you want something simple yet pretty which reminds me of my favorite go to polish Ballet Slippers from Essie.

IMG_8803

I just recently tried Myriam and have already gotten dozens of compliments on it. I usually end up choosing red for my nails, mostly because I think its a fun pop of color but still classic and thats why I think I gravitate to this color. It is a classic and vibrant red yet really packs a punch and it is eye catching which is great for spring. It also remind me of my go to red polish Big Apple Red from OPI but now I have a new favorite go to red.

IMG_8806

Like with all Julep Maven boxes each comes with a full sized Julep beauty product and this month it was a shade of lip glass from their line. I have gotten one before in a box and have loved it so I was looking forward to trying another shade. This month I got Graceful a beautiful, soft and light creamy pink color that goes on sheer and a bit milky. It is  perfect to wear alone or ontop of your favorite lipstick shade.

Hope you all enjoyed this look into my month Maven box and maybe inspired you to try some of my new favorite shades!

Giving Lip

I have forever been a chapstick gal and I have to admit that it is probably because I am just so nervous to pick the wrong color. However, lately I have been inspired by some of my friends and fellow bloggers to step out of my comfort zone and give some lip colors a try. On a recent trip to ulta and the drug store I picked up some shades and decided to just dive in! I got several but these are ones that I have tried and actually really love, and what I love the most is that these are fun shades but they don’t cost a fortune.  Some of them are even fool proof like my go to Dior Addict Lip Glow, it goes on like a balm and the shade adjusts to the perfectly pink shade to suit your lips! It takes all of the guessing out of trying to fins the perfect baby pink. Hope you all step a little out of your comfort zone and give a lip color a try that maybe you were hesitant about, it may end up paying off.

Screen Shot 2014-02-09 at 11.38.44 AM

From left to right I got the L’oreal Paris Colour Riche Balm in Heavenly Berry, Dior Addict Lip Glow ( It actually enhances your lips natural color!!), Jouer Lip Enhancer, Revoln Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Smitten ( P.S. this color is lighter in person and it comes out very sheer) and then Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon!

Hope you all enjoy and find these lip color as simply divine as I do!!!

Jo Malone London Rain Collection

I have many obsessions in life and one of them if you don’t know already is perfume. I just love being able to mix and match depending on your mood or maybe something that gives you that extra pep in your step. Being a fan of Jo Malone for a while now I always get really excited when their new collections come out and I get to experience a whole new perspective of fragrance. This years new limited edition collection is called London Rain(very fitting right?). The second I saw the water-colored bottles I knew this was not going to disappoint the excitement that I had built up in my head. Well this week I was able to get a one on one experience with these new fragrances and all I can say is WOW!

DSC_1292

There are four fragrances in this collection and each will speak to the perfume lover in all of us, and they seem to just mist you with the perfect amount of fragrance like misting rain. Wether it is the spice and woodsy Black Cedar & Juniper, the fresh and light scent of Rain & Angelica, the romantic and floral notes of Wisteria & Violet or the citrus and vibrant notes in White Jasmine & Mint. As usual there wasn’t one scent I didn’t enjoy and could really appreciate all of the different layers to each scent but of course there was one that I couldn’t stop talking about. I really really loved the White Jasmine & Mint and I know that Jo Malone features a White Jasmine & Mint in their signature collection line but this one to me seems to be pumped up a notch. I’m not sure if it is more concentrated or what but it just has that something extra and I love it! The fresh mint really wakes up your senses and the soft jasmine and rose add a romantic and whimsical touch that I truly enjoy.

If you all have a chance to stop by your local Jo Malone  boutique or store I know you will really enjoy this collection and all the scenes that it speaks to!

Weekend Fun

Hi everyone!! Hope you all had an amazing weekend and had the chance to do something simple wonderful! I have to say mine was a bit crazy to say the least. With my mom and brother going out of town and me trying to pack and get final items for my trip I felt like I really needed a moment to just relax and enjoy this beautiful weather we had here in south florida. But never the less throughout my many shopping trips this weekend I was able to snap a could of pictures to share with you all of things that made me smile of that I just thought were completely cute!

Saturday I literally spent the entire day running around trying to find cute little tanks and dresses for my up coming cruise and by upcoming I mean Monday! My planning has been off and all m shopping has been last minute thanks to school Ugh! Thankfully I was able to find a couple of cute things that I could not only wear for my tropical vacation but throughout the summer too.

Farmers Market

I was able to swing by the farmer market before my crazy mall marathon began and I must say going to the farmers market is something I really enjoy. I love all of the fresh produce and finding something new and healthy to try. And no trip to the farmers market is complete without some amazing treat for my furry little friend and a trip to the local honey tent. If you have a pet I really would encourage you to check out Happy Dog Bakery. I have been buying treats for my dog there for the longest time and some of their proceeds and products go to help shelter dogs.

ShoppingSaturday

I thought these little kinck knacks from bath and body were adorable, I love little bags in eye popping colors. And if you know me you will know my love for anything baking related and french so when I saw these little kitchen towels from their baking collection I melted. They are so fun and an easy way to bring some personality into your kitchen space.

Pauls

I stopped at one of my favorite little lunch spots for a bite to eat (shopping really does work up and appetite, I consider it exercise in my mind). Paul is this quaint little french bistro that serves some of the yummiest sandwiches, salads and even desserts. Though I didn’t get it this stop one of my all time favorite lunches is their Croque Monsieur…my mouth is watering just thinking about it. However this time I decided on a simple grilled chicken club YUMMY!!! Also true to my nature I had to get a sweet treat and splurged on a nutella doughnut that my cousin introduced me to, Nutella+ Doughnut= Perfection in my mind. Fear not though I did share it with my boyfriend , though to be honest I easily could have eaten it all myself  hehe =).

Fotor0303181613

Sunday is supposed to be the day and rest and I usually so just that expect I had to of course get last minute cruise items. Lucky for me though I got most of the little things I needed shampoo, conditioner that kind of stuff. I seriously have such an amazing guy, he was with me all day, didn’t mind me dragging him to every store I could think of and he treated me to such an amazing lunch and the bistro inside Nordstrom. If any of you haven’t been then all I can say is GO NOW!!!!! I hope the urgent capitals got my point across as to just how amazing this spot is. We both shared a french onion soup and a prime rib sandwich ( I am honestly such a foodie at heart).

All in all I can not wait to just be sipping on my fruity umbrella drink and soaking up some sun because all this running around has me exhausted! I hope that all of you enjoyed some you time and cant wait to catch up with all of you when I get back!

xoxo Val
